On Thursday, 18th December, we hosted our latest Bread and Butter event at the (Quite well decorated!) Old Court’s Bailiff Bar – and this time, it was all about digital skills!
Bread and Butter: Digital Edition was designed to give our community the practical support they need to thrive in today’s digital world. This session is part of our ongoing Bread and Butter series, which focuses on the essentials that keep organisations running – whether that’s funding, skills, or vital support. Literally, the Bread and Butter off your organisations. (Name conceived over a lunch break, if you can’t tell.)
For this event, we lent out our Communications Team – Lee, Sophie, and Charlie (pictured below) – to share their expertise and answer questions.

Who Came Along?
We were thrilled to welcome a diverse mix of attendees from across our community like members of the Faith sector from Queens Hall Methodist Mission (the church attached to The Brick) or a social enterprise sector member from Mind Body Health

Community-focused organisations like Boxing for Better and Everyday Lessons also attended! This variety made for a rich and collaborative atmosphere, with everyone eager to learn and share ideas.
What Did People Want to Know?
The most common questions revolved around digital marketing – from social media strategies to website creation and maintenance. Attendees were keen to understand how to make these platforms work for them and keep them updated effectively.
We also had queries about graphic design tools like Canva, and practical digital skills such as OneDrive syncing and getting comfortable with laptops.
One key insight? Many challenges weren’t about a lack of knowledge, but a lack of confidence. We were delighted to create a space where people felt comfortable asking questions – no matter how simple they seemed. After all, if you need to ask, you need to ask!
What’s Next?
We’re already in early conversations about our next Bread and Butter event. Right now, we’re exploring a crowdfunding-focused drop-in session, but we’d love to hear your ideas too!
