- Amount Funded: £19,034
Wigan Borough Community First (WBCF) is pleased to announce that Fur Clemt CIC has been awarded £19,034 through the Progress With Unity: Stronger Spaces fund.
Fur Clemt CIC supports local people through community activities, practical support, food provision, learning and wellbeing opportunities. The organisation is developing its community site in Pemberton to create additional opportunities for people to connect, learn and take part in activities.
Through its Stronger Spaces funding, Fur Clemt will develop a large plot of land behind its building into a safe and inclusive outdoor community and learning space. The planned garden will include a children’s play area, covered outdoor seating, an outdoor classroom, growing projects and space for bees.
The funding will initially be used to repair and adapt fencing around the site and create an access point, allowing work on the wider garden to begin.
About Stronger Spaces
Progress With Unity: Stronger Spaces is a £400,000 funding pot for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations across Wigan Borough. The fund forms part of the Live Well Implementation Fund Round One and was designed to support the development of Live Well Centres and the wider Live Well ecosystem across the borough.
While the funding was originally intended to support the development of one flagship Live Well Centre in the borough, Wigan Borough Community First chose to invest the funding across multiple community centres and organisations. This recognises the range of existing community spaces across Wigan Borough that already provide support and activities within their local areas and can contribute to the wider Live Well approach.
Organisations could apply for up to £30,000 to make improvements to their spaces and strengthen the support they provide to local communities.
About Fur Clemt CIC
Fur Clemt CIC provides community support and activities from its site in Pemberton, with a focus on creating opportunities for people to improve their wellbeing, develop skills and connect with others.
The Stronger Spaces project will create the foundations for a new outdoor community space that can support learning, growing, play and social activity. The improved site will provide additional opportunities for local people and families to spend time outdoors and take part in community activities.
