Wigan Borough Community First (WBCF) is pleased to announce that Ataraxia for All C.I.C has been awarded funding through the Thrive in Five programme.
Based in Ince, Ataraxia for All is a community wellbeing organisation supporting people to improve their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. Through welcoming activities focused on mindset, mindfulness and movement, the organisation helps people who may be experiencing anxiety, isolation or low confidence to take positive steps towards healthier habits, connection and self-care.

What is Thrive In Five?
Thrive in Five was created to support new, creative and community-led approaches to improving mental wellbeing across Wigan Borough. WBCF is working closely with Public Health at Wigan Council, who commissioned the programme, and Edge Hill University, who will support the evaluation of its impact.
The programme provides awards of £20,000 to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations to deliver wellbeing-focused activity for people of all ages and backgrounds. Alongside the funded projects, successful organisations will take part in a Wellbeing Circle, creating an opportunity to share insight, learn from one another and strengthen collaboration across the sector.
Through this approach, Thrive in Five aims to support local wellbeing activity while building the relationships, knowledge and capacity needed to develop sustainable, community-led support across the borough.
About Ataraxia
Through its Thrive in Five-funded project, What If You Fly?, Ataraxia for All will offer a range of activities designed to help people build confidence, reduce fear and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
Over ten months, participants will be able to take part in low-pressure activities including fitness, dance, wellbeing walks, mindfulness, breathwork, sound healing and creative workshops. A smaller group will also take part in a four-week Fearless by Design mindset course, focusing on confidence, resilience and managing anxiety.
The programme will be delivered with support from local practitioners and organisations, including Wildoria CIC and FunkedUp Fitness, alongside wider community partners who will help with outreach, engagement and referrals.
The project will take place across Ince and Scholes and Wigan Town Centre, with activities designed to be welcoming and accessible to people who may face barriers to engaging with traditional wellbeing support.
The programme will finish with a community celebration, giving participants an opportunity to reflect on their progress and connect with ongoing wellbeing opportunities. Feedback from participants will also help shape the programme as it develops.
