Rosa - Voices from the Frontline

Rosa’s Voices from the Frontline fund provides grants to women’s and girls’ organisations to campaign for change, challenge inequality and influence decisions that affect women and girls across the UK.

Grants of £500 to £10,000 over 18 months support organisations to raise awareness, influence policy, gather evidence and strengthen the campaigning skills of women and girls. Rosa expects to award around 35–40 grants in the current round. The fund is particularly interested in organisations working in disadvantaged areas and those led by and for Black and minoritised women, disabled women, and LGBTQ+ women and girls

Funding Priorities:

What They Will Fund:

Funding can support campaigning and influencing activities such as:

  • Campaigns for changes to policies, laws or public services.
  • Influencing local or central government.
  • Engaging community leaders, decision-makers and other people with power.
  • Advocacy, lobbying and public-speaking training for activists.
  • Gathering evidence to support a campaign.
  • Producing resources or tools that help women and girls campaign for change.
  • Social media, video and other media campaigns.
  • Training professionals to better understand and respond to women’s needs.
  • Activities that build an organisation’s campaigning, activism and advocacy skills.
  • Work that helps women and girls share their experiences and influence decisions affecting their lives.

Projects should explain the issue they want to change, who they intend to influence, the activities they will carry out and the difference they hope to make

What They Won’t Fund:

The fund will not support:

  • Work taking place outside the UK or campaigns focused on influencing change overseas.
  • Activities that are the responsibility of statutory agencies.
  • Profit-making work.
  • Party-political activity.
  • Activities promoting religious beliefs.
  • Applications from individuals.
  • Overseas travel.
  • Interest payments on loans.
  • Building purchases.
  • Retrospective costs already incurred before a grant is awarded.

General service delivery without a clear campaigning or influencing purpose is unlikely to fit the programme.
